Mr. Garbage Man

**This song was extra fun to make. It was originally intended as a puppet show soundtrack, but I got inspired to create an original drumtrack for it, using the sounds that the garbage truck made. So I got up early on Garbage Day, strapped my 1-year-old to my back and took my old Hi8 camera out and followed the garbage truck for about 3 blocks. The garbage men were amused, and one of them even lent his voice to the project. After that, I captured the sound in the computer and collected sounds from the truck, the garbage cans banging around and the recycling truck backing up.

Chorus

Hey Mr. Garbage Man

Take away my garbage can

If you got some room in there,

Take my worrries and my cares

Cause lately,

I’ve been taking it for granted

Boy it’s stinky,

I don’t know if you can stand it

But please believe me

I don’t think that we could do without you

No no no no no

Verse 1

My brother’s diapers

And fuzzy pears

Dust mites, bum wipes

And crusty éclairs

It can’t break down

It can’t break free

And if it stays here much longer

It’s going to crawl after me

Ya ya ya ya ya

Chorus

Verse 2

There’s so much garbage All over the place

And you haul it all away With a smile on your face

It just amazes me How you handle it all

And how our streets

Are garbage free

Before the night falls

Ya ya ya ya ya

verse 3

green leaky cheese and old mouldy peas

broken plates and sacks of dates

no don’t be late, don’t hesitate

it’s coming I can hear it,

the garbage truck is nearer yet

hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry

HURRY HURRY HURRY!!

Ya ya ya ya ya ya ya

Chorus

Verse 4

I run out in my underwear

Curlers, bad breath and armpit hair

It’s scary, but you smile at me

And take my garbage gracefully

Ps I hope it doesn’t leak

Because I’ll see you again next week

Ya ya  ya  ya ya

Chorus
